What a fabulous idea, it gives people some ideas for house warming pressies without them having to spend any money! A friend of mine did this and also added something along the lines of "left over paint, building materials or DIY/handyperson skill donations also gratefully accepted" - she ended up with a new small paved area with pergola built and painted for nothing but a bit of sweat, beer and BBQ.

This is good to consider when buying a home, a lot of times you will look around and see stuff you don't necessarily like but most is cosmetic. Look for true issues that would need to be fixed in order to move in.

Wow! This is a wonderful article. Just having the house should provide quite a bit of comfort and contentment in the beginning, so why rush it? Looking at the pics in this article, I see many old houses where I have lived. In fact the one with the stove standing alone between three doors is exactly the same as one of the large houses where I lived. I remember the door on the left is a back staircase, and the one on the right goes to a study/den, with the third (swinging) to enter the butler's pantry and the dining room. Oh my!
