"There are times when oil based is better, Daly concedes."

How can you throw that in there and not explain when exactly to use oil-based paint?

It's difficult to even find oil-based paint any more. And after doing a lot of painting on our new build... a good painting contractor is worth every single penny they charge.

I got oil based paint for my cabinets from Sherman Williams. They were the only ones locally that had a satin finish oil based paint. The cabinets took a little time to paint but the paint was brilliant. It tended to self level but do not try to touch up, wait for it to dry before adding any additional paint. If you goof up you must either strip it off again or sand and paint depending on how bad it is. Oil based paint doesn't dry, it cures and it is hard when it is cured. It stands up to the "slings and arrows of outrageous fate" often seen in a well used kitchen. I'm very pleased with the finished product
