What a perfectly stunning home! What paints were used? We just recently became the first North American paint manufacturer to publish our HPDs (Health Product Declarations) which is integral for LEED v4. Check us out for your next project! http://www.ecospaints.net/testing-and-certifications.html

Not thrilled about the open bathroom concept - but generally love the house

About the snow issue. I am a Montrealer and i can assure you that we usually don't use our courtyard when it's that small during winter. We put away or cover the outdoor furniture because there is so much snow. We live almost exclusively inside during about 6 months here. We leave the snow in the courtyard until it melts. The kids slide, build snowmen and forts.

And to answer the other question about the flat roof covered with snow. There are lots of flat roofs in Montreal and of course the building code in Quebec is different. The houses (and roof) support the heavy snowfalls. The new problem that we face now is more ice rain every year. That is a real Destroyer!
