Houzz TV: 77 Gorgeous Garden Gates

What lies behind a garden gate can be an enticing mystery, but sometimes the gate itself has a beauty all its own. This collection of garden gates covers the map — some provide sneak peaks at the lush landscapes behind them, while others hold on to their secrets, making them all the more enchanting. Watch the video or click on the first photo to get started (switch the green product tags on and off via the tag icon at the bottom of each photo’s page). Then tell us which garden gate you’d most like to take a stroll through.

everyone of them is wonderful but #27 don't walk through there at night it looks like a big tree log you might trip, slip and fall bust a kneecap or something just kidding I'm sure it's lighted up in that area........... they all just make we want a garden just so I can have a nice garden gate

#27... That gave me an idea on how I might be able to fix a mistake I made!!! I planted a pretty weeping cherry tree in a location that is really just too close to a grassy walkway as it matures... But now I'll try copy that with it because it's too late IMO to move it, and I sure don't want to cut it down... and I didn't really want to trim up the bottom weeping parts, I think that looks funny. I'll just keep a "doorway" trimmed out, Hooray!!!

Nice article, so many lovely examples!

The iron gates in charleston sc are beautiful. A lot of variety in one place with beautiful gardens,,. Wish you would do an article on them. And Phillip Simmons the designer of several of the gates.

The sword gate is a great example of a beautiful gate

Wow! Nos. 37, 39, 76 all make me smile because I love intricate ironwork. But my heart goes to No. 2 - any gate with a peekaboo view of the ocean wins with me.

I'm seduced by garden doors and the "magic" behind them. I lived for a year in a wing of the uninhabited 1795 Admiralty House on 28 wild acres overlooking Plymouth Sound. The overgrown perimeter included this blue door with green metal gate. All the doors on the grounds were a beautiful blue. It was like The Secret Garden. It's all tidied up and manicured now, but I prefer to remember it as the wild grounds I roamed alone.

During Hurricane Charlie our pool screen collapsed. After, aluminum was so expensive to replace that we decided to not rebuild the pool screen and instead add a wall, pillars and fence. I had this door built in Bogata, Columbia. I brought it home on my jet ( I am an airline pilot ) and had the wall built to fit the door.

My updated custom garden gate with a new glass panel. Thank you MPD Glass in Winnipeg. The gates were originally designed to have tensioned aircraft wire in the open area. It needed retensioning every spring, and occasionally repair if someone large and enthusiastic felt they wouldn't be too much of an obstacle.

My husband designed and built the Blue Gate (tiled roof has blue tiles too) to divide the main Garden from the raised bed garden. This photo was taken last winter- it currently frames a glimpse of sunflowers and grape arbor. It is the perfect Pacific Rim touch for our Northwest Garden.

So many beautiful gates! I will be having two installed next week . . . along with a fence. The fence will be open wire and 5" round posts and the gates will be simple wood frames with grid wire. This way I'll still be able to enjoy the view of the forest and the deer roaming around -- but they won't eat my garden or butt my house!

@kitty526 -- you don't need a lot of land to have a gate or garden! One side of my house, which will have a gate, is only 6 feet wide!

Very nice. But while I can stop the video and expand the picture area to get a better look, I am not able to save the gates to an idea book. Also, whatever method people kept track of photo placement numbers of 77 gates without a caption number on each gate photo is inefficient. If you are going to edit the photos for the gates, then CG a number in the corner and a way to get back to it. The piece is helpful as to designs but pointless if the only way to get the picture is to freeze the screen and then print screen (or start the video again and count). Not easy with a windows system. Not easy with houzz either.

I designed this gate & wall to create a courtyard in front of my home. Had a landscape company build the wall and a steel fabrication business make the gate & wall "window" grates. It's my favorite place to be and adds some interest to an otherwise "ordinary" exterior.
