What a great article! I had no idea there is filter that should be cleaned out. And these other tips for cleaning the inside are really helpful. I’m almost excited to clean mine …

Almost makes me glad I bought a low end diswasher for our 2013 kitchen renovation. It runs on timers instead of sensors. I've cleaned the filter a few times, maybe 5 times.

My challenge is with the water intake. I suspect our hard water is clogging the line. When I have a particularly large load, I open the door at the end of each fill and add another 2qts of hot water. It seems to clean and rinse better, especially the top shelf items.

After being married 45 plus years, I just got my first dishwasher! It's a Kenmore. I am amazed at how well it works! It was hard for me to not rinse the dishes first, but I realized that defeats the purpose! I do my best to remove all lose food bits. I need to locate the filter and check it regularly. We have a tankless water heater, so I need to run water in the sink to get the water hot! (Not really a fan of the tankless) but that's another comment all together! I was a little hesitant to use the pods it came with (we were told to NEVER use pods for our washing machine because it gums up and does not dissolve all the way) so I wonder if that can be the case in the dishwasher too?!? This article is good "food" for thought! Pun intended!
