Houzz TV: This Drone Video of Autumn in New England Will Lift Your Soul

Everyone has heard about the incredible leaf colors that blanket parts of New England and the Midwest during autumn. But to actually see the red, yellow and orange leaves glowing like embers along hilly landscapes, around glassy lakes and dappled among harbor towns is another thing entirely.

With that in mind, we sent a drone soaring over picturesque New Hampshire scenery to give you an aerial view of an original pilgrim home in Gilmanton, a scenic train cutting through the White Mountain National Forest and more.

This year I was in New England. The houses and colorful leafs are wonderful. Most disappointing were that only rare signposting's showed important leaf peeping points. Also only very few restrooms or rather dirty restrooms; no one could use them. Special the mobile toilets weren't cleaned for month. An other point were the unfriendly people and aggressive drivers.

We went from the coast up to Main. Then to Vermont and drove the 100 down. We weren't the only dissepointed people. A family with a person in wheelchair have had lot of problems. They drove also the 100 down and needed a toilett for the handicaped.

They found after looking for quite a time one in a cafè. They only could use it with buying a coffee.

Lived in Boston for several years. Fall was spectacular - the trees were like a bowl of Fruitloops! And the scent! Spicy, pungent with wood smoke, musky, fresh, cold clean air with that hint of snow. I loved it! In the deep South, leaves just turn brown and fall off the tress. And then it rains.

silviakunst, why? It was probably cheaper than renting a helicopter to do it and it allows them to fly and film lower than a helicopter. Can you imaging waking up and seeing some helicopter hovering in front of your house with some guy or gal hanging out of it snapping pictures?

@ silviakunst

Why a drone?

Because most of the beautiful scenery points on the pictures are on privat property.

No thruway because the boatclub fenced all the ways to the big lake.

Because if you wanted to take a picture you need to go on privat property. All around thousens of signposts for NO TRESPASSING. Of cause we never passed the privat property.

Because when you want to see a good peeping point there in no sighnpost that showed the way. Only very short before the beautiful point stood a sign. This one wasn't really nessesary because you saw already the point but before you were looking of your eyes to see which direction you need to go.

Maybe I was to used to good pointed peeping points, clean toiletts and friendly and helpful people because in the West we found it all.

This year I was not able to stay long enough at our island summer cabin near Wolfeboro to see those leaves, so this video did indeed lift my soul. There are scenic view pull-offs on the highways, but who needs markers when the beauty is everywhere you look? The bathrooms at the town docks shown are handicapped accessible and super clean, and New Englanders are historically reserved but certainly not unfriendly. The number of leaf peepers who flood the area in the fall probably occasionally strain tempers, clog highways and push facilities' use to the max...so Freya, please don't categorize the entire region by a few experiences.

Fabulous scenery! Just got back from a weekend in Boston and we found it to be lovely. There were friendly, helpful people everywhere we went and a great vibe. My sister lives up outside of Portland Maine and I find it to also be wonderful with nice people and lots to see, eat, and do. Additionally our son went to school in New Hampshire. Great too! Never had a problem with public restrooms - even I90 restrooms aren't bad and they are busy places! Perhaps the person who's complaining about New England was there over the last winter because otherwise I just don't get it. :)

UPLIFTING! Great drone handling for superb views. The music is paired perfectly. Really good eye for artistic presentation like the lone car on single road through massive leaf color and the harbor shot. I sent it to my friends because I know it will delight them. Wish it were longer. Maybe next year? Something this great leaves you wanting more.

This is glorious! The earth is abundant for our every need in life. Are we really over populated and are our resources really depleted? Or... Is it our perception that needs to change? Are we simply reacting to our fears of losing something so glorious? Or are we trusting in life (not pushing or pulling the river) and the knowledge that our every need will be sustained but our desires are where are problems arise? Our perception of our needs possibly? Thank you for the reminder of the beauty that surrounds us!

Several years back after observing the Pirates' Who Don't Do Anything declaration that they had "never been to Boston in the fall", I made a solemn promise to myself and my wife that we would do just that.

We had started a tradition of taking each child when they arrived at the age of ten on a trip with just mom and dad to visit an American Historical site. In his ninth year, my youngest proposed a trip to England for his trip, for as he stated, "America started over there, Dad". Though his argument was unassailable, we instead planned our Boston excursion.

In Colorado the coniferous trees remain verdant year round, though the aspens for a mere fortnight shimmer in dorado vibrations across the mountains. But to see the sheer volume and pallet of color displayed in the environs of Boston was breathtaking and inspiring. We felt minuscule--insignificant.

Now we can declare that we have been to Boston in the fall--no one can claim we don't do anything!

STUNNING!!! I love being back home in the Pacific Northwest with our soaring Douglas firs, cedars, pines, and other conifers, but this time of year I do miss our years spent back east. There's nothing like the colors of hardwoods in the fall! Thanks so much for the truly uplifting video. I'll be sharing it on my FB, blog, and twitter pages as an early Thanksgiving gift to my friends, family, and readers.

I have lived in Vancouver and several years in the midwest, and traveled through almost every state in the Union. Everywhere there are good people and beautiful landscapes. But I missed New England the most, especially in the fall. I grew up in a suburb of Boston. Now living in Maine I love all the seasons and am glad to constantly help tourists who stop me on my walks and are looking for specific points of interest. My husband and I regularly travel through the countryside and find beautiful views without being on private property. When I drove through other parts of the country, I was careful not to trespass on farms, ranches and other lots. We get a lot of tourists in Kennebunkport and it is hard for locals to get around during summer and fall, but we understand and just live with it. However, it can get annoying when you put up a sign that says "Private property" and several cars still come down your gravel road setting off your driveway alarm. People from the midwest and west seem to find us difficult but I never find it so. New Englanders are yankees and very individualistic. They don't mince many words; thus are not as effusive as the very socialized groups from other parts of the country but that doesn't mean they aren't helpful or don't like you. I've encountered people in other states who have tried to give me wrong directions and even steal from me, but I don't take all people to be like that.

Here is a photo of the Mt. Washington Hotel and Mr. Washington with its first snow. A beautiful place to visit.

This drone video seems like the bird's eye view of a humming bird on drugs. Not recommended for people with high blood pressure. Overall it strikes me as frantic, disjointed, bizarre (clouds disappearing backwards) and the music stressful. When I am appreciating nature I do not usually hear trumpets and drums unless there is a marching band near-by. I'm usually a big fan of everything houzz.

I signed in here to watch the video of my home. I've lived here all my life, and while there are some negatives such as the long winters, some bad drivers and some unsanitary toilets, it's still one of the most beautiful places in America. When you try to find the negative, you will find it. Here, there are wonderful people, hard-working souls with little geographic area to navigate in small states. However, the spirit of goodness is there among us, and for all of you who know the famous quote, "Once a New Englander, always a New Englander," you understand. Until you've visited in the Fall months, you can't imagine the beauty of it all. Come.

Poor freya, think she was on a bus tour. I'm a native here but must admit the term "important leaf peeping sites" threw me! The best places for leaves are dirt roads and tiny backroads, i'm thinking VT although presently i call downeast home. We yankees are really not that nasty, quiet yes. Hubby ran an air ambulance service, not loving the use of drones..

It was a truly spectacular year for leaf color. Late summer was dry (almost too dry) and the first frosts came in quick and sharp, which is the perfect recipe for brilliant red and gold leaves. I live on the CT shoreline and this autumn just made my heart sing.

Thanks houzz. Makes me want to worship the God that created it all and sustains it by the power of His mighty right hand. We Southerners appreciate such beauty seen in the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Great Smoky Mountains, the coastal cities of Charleston, Savannah and the Outer Banks, the peach farms of the Sandhills and the Piedmont. It's always a blessing and inspiration when we can enjoy these things this time of year around Thanksgiving and Christmas with family and loved ones.
