I have deleted items from my home religiously for years. After each purge, I feel free for about 10 minutes, then I feel naked. I then start the process of refilling my home and closet. Yes, I get rid of things that didn't work, or did work (for a while). My desire is to have better taste or pre-edit in in the pre-purchase exam. To have a more classic foundation that may bring me more joy, may cost more than I think I can bear initially, but less costly in the long run.

I started using Marie Kondos ideas in the bedroom dressers for my husband's t-shirts, underwear, and socks, it has made a huge difference. As for my stuff, I arranged my panties, bras, nightdresses, lounging pants, socks, and bathing suits, for my t-shirts I prefer to hang them. The stand-up version in drawers makes everything so much easier to find what you're looking for and it keeps things very neat. For my sock drawer, I have a small flashlight I leave in it so I can distinguish the different socks by texture or black/navy, etc. I have used Marie Kondos method for over a year now and love it! An added note: Using Kondo's method of standing up items when packing a suitcase for travel is particularly great, it takes less room and things stay neat as you use them.
