These dogs were home when photographers came by to shoot their houses. Some greeted the photographers and followed them around. Other dogs did what they always do at home: lounge around, eat, play, snooze. Each charmed the photographer and ended up in the picture. See if you aren’t more than a little charmed too by these dogs of Houzz as they show you around their homes.

The Bryn Coed Farm property was once owned by the late U.S. Supreme Court justice Owen J. Roberts, who hired noted architect R. Brognard Okie to renovate it in the late 1920s. Archer & Buchanan Architecture did a recent renovation.

It’s all paws on deck for a black and white pup stretched out on the porch of a rustic Mediterranean-style residence. Much of the natural stone used for the renovated home is yellow Osage, a textured limestone. The reclaimed French door dates to the 1800s.

Cocker spaniel Bubba checks out visitors to this contemporary Southern California home. Of the custom front door with glass panels, designer Michael Fullen says: “The driveway is broken up in a similar way, so it made sense to incorporate these shapes into the entry. They are also a repeating element throughout the house.” The porch stairs are poured concrete in a custom color.
The welcomes don’t get much warmer than this one from yellow Lab Sadie, who peeks out over the Dutch door of this Fitzpatrick, Alabama, farmhouse. The Design Atelier worked with the homeowners to create interiors with a warm, collected look.

Burly might be up for a walk to nearby Lake Michigan from this cottage home in Union Pier, Michigan. Designer Erin O’Connor used soft blues and greens throughout the renovated home.
This Welsh corgi is happy to meet you in this renovated 1670 farmhouse with exposed timber framing on Boston’s North Shore. Weatherall Design and Wilson Kelsey Design worked together to remodel and decorate the Colonial home, situated on acres of farmland and marsh.
Two fluffy friends lead the way down the hall of a traditional Edwardian-era Sydney row house to the ultramodern addition in back, where a circular stairway links three floors.

Ted shares his Sydney home with Debra Cronin of Debra Cronin Design and Cronin’s other dog, Rosie. The designer preserved the century-old home’s weathered look while updating it to show the layers of history. It’s furnished with collectibles, found items and objets d’art from auctions, eBay and Etsy.

“My little Bentley is a Havanese,” homeowner kimber418_gw says of her dog on the sofa of her Austin, Texas, living room. Martha O’Hara Interiors used dark upholstery and whimsical art to make the room both practical and fun to suit the owners’ lifestyle and personalities.

To recharge a young novelist’s dining area, the designers applied a bold color-field striped wallpaper and selected a carbon-fiber Moooi chandelier by Bertjan Pot, Jasper Morrison felt chairs and an oval Eero Saarinen dining table.
Border collie Phoebe is pictured in the dining room of a Massachusetts farmhouse owned by artist and sheep farmer Kristin Nicholas and her family. Furniture in the 1751 home has been collected over the years. The floor is pine painted in three shades of gray and topped with water-based sealer. A black iron electrified oil lamp from an antiques store hangs over the table. The corner cabinet houses Nicholas’ hand-painted ceramics.

It’s clear who the star is in this Scituate, Massachusetts, kitchen. The homeowners were dog-sitting Audry the bulldog for their daughter when this photo was taken. Inset painted white cabinets by The Cabinetry are topped with a London Gray granite countertop in this traditional kitchen.
A cavalier King Charles spaniel peeks out from its bed in an English country kitchen in New Jersey. The bed niche is part of a handcrafted Kuche+Cucina cabinetry unit in soft yellow with brown glazing and light distressing.
Rescue dogs Maxie and Scout like to nap in their kitchen den after long walks with their owners. They open the door with their noses. Betsy Bassett designed the dog den for maximum flexibility. “I recommended to my client to purchase a base cabinet that matched existing cabinetry so that in the future it could be retrofitted back to a base cabinet,” Bassett says.

Family dog Huck, an Australian shepherd, sits in front of a custom-built mudroom unit adjacent to a Georgia kitchen. Locker-style cabinets store coats and backpacks, and bins hold sports equipment. Huck’s toys, leashes and food bowls have a place in the cabinet unit too.

This cavalier King Charles spaniel likes to be in the center of the action in this Marblehead, Massachusetts, kitchen. “The walnut island was built custom for the space by our in-house woodworking team at C&M,” Grace Garrison of Carpenter & MacNeille says, “and the best part about the photo is actually that the space was not necessarily built for the dog, but he really enjoyed it and claimed it all on his own accord.”
Lulu the dog sits in the entry of this Santa Cruz, California, home under a painting of homeowner Enid Brock’s great-grandmother. Enid and husband Jim Brock built the hilltop home with help from Matthew Thompson. It’s filled with light and has an ocean view.

A friendly goldendoodle stands at the ready in this Chicago home. The row house is one of a group of new brick and limestone homes that Stonebridge Development Group designed to fit into the historic Lincoln Park district. The award-winning homes have custom woodwork throughout.
Designer Kelley Motschenbacher calls dog Millie her “favorite girl.” This picture was taken at Motschenbacher’s former beach house in Southern California. “Millie’s favorite spot was at the top of the stairs. It was very cool and breezy, and she could hear what was going on throughout the house because of the echoes.” Millie’s toy Mr. Squeeky lies next to her.
