I have just moved into a new town home; the walls are a nice shade of light gray with white trim. I have a silver sofa, white chairs & a modern recliner in off-white with very small (VERY SMALL) blue accents in the fabric. The floors are cherry wood. It all looks "nice" together, but now that everything is together, it's boring (white/gray/white/gray); lastly, I have a 6X9 accent rug from Crate & B (very nice rug) that is a darker gray with some, again, small blue accents & even smaller raspberry flecks. I am considering an accent wall, there is a perfect wall in the living area that is about 10X10, so it shouldn't cost a fortune to paint................but.............I have NO idea what color to use, everything I sample looks tooooo "OFF". May I have your opinions as experts, please? Besides color, I have heard there is paint (Lauren?) that looks metallic (copper/brass/gold/silver) & also paints that that character in the texture, etc. HELP! OH, by the way, I'm a single man, 64 years old in Dallas, TX.

Hi, I am not a designer. However, something I just discovered which may give you another idea is a website called "plankandmill.com". It is peel and stick reclaimed wood, and they will send you free samples. They have a nice gallery of ideas. Another website that carries a variety of unique wall products is "diydecorstore.com". Also, if there is a homeshow sheduled in your area, attend it to check out new products. I hope this helps. Post pictures when you are finished, and, congrats on your new place.

I renovated my kitchen, and now have an open floor plan. I have a white kitchen with white Quartz countertops with hints of grey lines, grey island, stainless steel appliances, and a backsplash that brings all the colors together. I'm thinking of painting the whole top floor (dining room, living room, hallways, main entrance) with BM Revere Pewter. I used revere pewter on the kitchen walls. Would that color work for the whole house? Should I do an accent wall with maybe charcoal gray in the living room? I have large patio doors leading to the deck from the dining room, and a huge window on the adjacent wall (in the dining room). I have a ton of light coming in from all of the rooms. Any thoughts or suggestions? I, too, am "beiged-out".
