I have an IPE shower floor and while it looks beautiful, it is a maintenance nightmare.

Mine does have a finish on it and the slats are rounded to aid in the water run off but every six months or so we have to remove the entire platform and powerwash the mold, soap scum, and hair from the underside and between the slats. It also shows water spots and soap residue unless I dry it after every shower.

what hardware is used for the wooden inset above floor bench and can the cedar or teak be directly inset with the tile mortar of a full tile remodel?

If using teak in a shower space does one need to treat it with anything and if yes how often. Thanks.
