Kristina, point taken. The problem with candles in the bedroom is, simply, that people may drop off to sleep before extingishing them. Ever nodded off when reading in bed, or while “just closing my eyes for a few minutes”? Candles can burn unevenly, become unbalanced, and fall over. Or they may burn down too far and scorch a table. Pets can knock them over. Open flames in a bedroom are not a good idea.

I don't care for candles anywhere in my home, prefer flameless warmers and turn those off at night, except for the very low wattage one I use as a nightlight in the bathroom. But if I were to use candles, I'd be sensible in their use no matter where I used them. If I had a tendency to nod off in bed, I definitely wouldn't light a candle in my bedroom, nor would I be looking for suggestions on how to get a better night's sleep. I think when I originally read the candle suggestion in the article, I saw it as a before bed suggestion, in the hour leading up to going to bed so not in the bedroom. And wrote it off as more work than my current nighttime routine. I already drop the lights at night but am not going to further drop them to the point of finding my way to bed by candlelight. I didn't really find any helpful tips that I didn't already have in place but also didn't feel a need to criticize the tips that weren't my cup of tea.
