Just picked this up today for my cottage-themed house, a 1955 GE Spacemaker. Couldn't get over the copper plated knobs and chrome trim; it has a lot of character and style compared to new appliances. A happy little stove that will be like new again with a bit of TLC.

I saw an episode of Restored on DIY yesterday where historic preservationist Brett Waterman restored a beautiful 1913 Spanish style home in the Riverside, CA area. The interior's Craftsman details were pretty much intact -none of the glorious woodwork had been painted over or otherwise damaged and the house still had its built-ins. The kitchen and the downstairs bath needed the most work. The centerpiece of the kitchen was a vintage Wedgewood range which the homeowners wanted to keep. Brett sent it to Antique Stove Heaven for restoration. The range was gorgeous when it was restored! It will also last for years because they made those appliances to last and last. There's also no electronics to burn out in those old ranges. The homeowners also elected to keep the original linoleum in the kitchen that Brett uncovered when he showed them how fantastic it would look restored. Yes, their kitchen floor is over 100 yers old. This is one of the few home renovations shows that doesn't drive me nuts.
