The house next door to where I grew up was a Tudor house. It was beautiful inside and outside. Inside had a lot of mahogany, a gorgeous staircase up to the half story then onto the second story. There was a awesome stain glass window that was very gothic and narrow that spanned from the half story to the 2nd story. The kitchen was more modern - with a dinette and very 1950s with the latest new appliances. Furniture of the time was heavy and all wood with dark stain. Special rugs were Turkish - dark but beautiful designs. Wall to wall carpeting was always lighter. The outside was totally brick with a slate roof. Ivy grew all over the front area. The den which was to the left of the entrance had metal windows with shaded glass. It was a yellow color and the glass was not totally clean - kinda wavy if I recall correctly. All the windows were surrounded by slate. I always thought it was the original House of Usher. The lady of the house had pure white hair and when I saw her through her kitchen window, I thought she was a witch! Such an imagination of a young child.

Today the house pretty looks the same except the Ivy across the front of the house is gone.
