I love the river birch especially the peeling bark and leaves are light and small.

Poisonous dogwood berries. Love the tree, hate the berries. Dogs get upset GI system - vomiting and/or diarrhea. The berries drop by the hundreds. One who writes that the birds eat the berries before they hit the ground has never lived with a fruit bearing dogwood. The crows can’t eat them fast enough. They drop them half-eaten around the yard and driveway, too. Those of you with food-motivated Labrador retrievers, beware!
