Our glass shower enclosure is 31 years old and no deposits at all. The last one out of the shower squeegees the glass and about every 2 weeks I apply Glass Wax or a similar product and the glass stays smooth as silk and clean, clean, clean.

If you’ve done a really pretty tile enclosure, with a neat patterned floor and maybe simple graphic on the walls, you will miss out on being able to see your “ artwork” if you use a frosted glass. With clear glass, just make sure to use a large squeegee after each use and dry off the fixtures and apply a coat of “Rainex” every few months to the inside of the door- water will just bead up and roll right off.

Pat & Bonnie, you both must have very compliant and cooperative people living with you/using your showers; unfortunately I do not. I am the only one who would ever squeegee anything, let alone apply a special coat of Rainex every few months. I have too many other things to worry about than having to run into the bathroom and squeegee after each family member or guest uses the shower. Thus, I have textured glass in my guest shower and a doorless, snail-type shower in my master. I am alone in spraying the daily shower cleaner after each time I use it; my husband won’t do it, and my kids usually forget.

The point is, you really have to consider the personalities of those using the shower: what are they realistically willing to do to maintain it?
