These Jewel-Tone Kitchen Cabinets Really Shine
For a colorful but sophisticated look, paint your cabinets one of these dazzling hues
If you want to embrace color in your kitchen but are afraid of going too bright, consider rich and sophisticated jewel tones. These highly saturated colors nod to gemstones such as emeralds, rubies and sapphires. You can breathe new life into your kitchen by painting your cabinets in one of these six on-trend shades.
Emerald. While emeralds in nature can range from light to dark, it’s the deep-hued emerald that seems to be really turning heads of late. This Los Angeles kitchen by Black Lacquer Design features cabinets painted in Benjamin Moore’s Chrome Green.
Ruby. Red has long been a popular color in kitchens, but unlike many brighter reds, ruby is a deeper hue that works equally well in traditional or modern kitchens. Rembrandt Ruby from Sherwin-Williams is a good example of this lovely shade of red.
Sapphire. Sapphires, much like emeralds, come in a range of colors, but it’s the darker blue shades that have been showing up in more and more kitchens recently. Consider pairing cabinets painted in a shade of sapphire blue, such as Benjamin Moore’s New York State of Mind, with brass fixtures for a sophisitcated look.
Yellow topaz. In nature, topaz can be found in nearly every color of the rainbow, but yellow is the most common shade used in jewelry. It’s also a great choice if you want a richer, deeper yellow tone for your kitchen cabinets. Behr’s Fuzzy Duckling will give you a look similar to the cabinets here.
Amethyst. Painting your kitchen cabinets any shade of purple, even dark-hued amethyst, is a bold choice. For a balanced look, consider painting your island cabinets in an amethyst color, such as Farrow & Ball’s Pelt, and keeping the rest of the cabinets white.
