I have opted for a built-in rangehood (with the fan up on the roof for quiet) in our new home after years of having a stainless steel canopy. To keep all that admittedly lovely looking, exposed stainless steel clean... I prefer not to.

Can recommend the Sirius downdraft that rises from the induction hob. Very powerful and disappears when not in use.
