@twiebers That argument was made many times with the most popular dining spaces from last quarter, and I heard it loud and clear and agreed. So I titled this one using "Dining Spaces," the term I used and explained in the intro. I assume it was changed because these spaces are all categorized for Houzz searches under "Dining Rooms" and that's where we pulled the most popular-determining numbers from.

It's too much of a quagmire to set up a separate category under "Breakfast Rooms" — where will the categories ever end? What about when people refer to them as different things, or it's a dining nook off a living room? There is a point where there are too many categories to navigate with ease, and lots of thought and debate goes into considering a new category. However, most photos are keyworded so that you can do searches for "breakfast room," "breakfast nook," "booth," "banquette," or "dining nook" to pull up those types of dining spaces.

Because eating in so many different spaces is the norm these days, it can get confusing as to what to call each eating space. My mother's best friend ate in different spaces during the day. In her house, she had space just outside the kitchen, an eating space in a separate room, one in her bedroom when she had a lot of company (it was the largest room in the house so had plenty of space for a large dining table), one that overlooked her gardens, and a small one next to the receiving area. The only eating area she didn't have was one outdoors! And she used every single eating space all the time.

I tend to call them eating areas: Island eating area: nook eating area: formal eating area; casual eating area; living room eating area; backyard eating area; front yard eating area; garden eating area; den or office eating area; recreation eating area; basement eating area; bedroom eating area. One would think Americans are obsessed with eating. LOL

Merry Merry & Happy Happy

Wait, I totally lied by mistake. I thought the comments section I was reading and responding to was from the most popular dining spaces of all of 2017, not this quarterly one. The change was made for the end of the year dining spaces story! You guys are powerful, we had made the change! And I sound like a ditz today, so I'm going to go ahead and quit commenting while I'm behind :)
