We found our stools in an old cabin up north from us .They were going to burn it down to make way for a new house on the land. The cabin was built in 1890 .My Grandmother was a caretaker for the couple that owned the cabin and they had passed away left the place to her. My grandma gave my husband and I permission to take what we wanted from the place and we ended up with these barstools the original price tag and makers tag is still under the stool from 1922 ...And some other really awesome stuff ... I love antiques !

It is interesting that an article that is instructive about proper stool heights, has pictures that show stools too high for the counters they are paired with. The industry somehow has not caught up with the current 36 inch counters used in most kitchens today, with many stools not available in the correct 24 inch height. Good article anyway!

How to Find Your Ideal Stool Height
•The first step is to evaluate the best height for your situation. Remember to calculate a stool’s height from the floor to the seat, and not the backrest.
•Measure the distance from the floor to the underside of the counter.
•Subtract 10 to 12 inches from this distance, and you have your ideal stool height.
