Barbara ~ We have south facing windows in a second home that has completely faded our cork floors. So I would suspect the same would be true of clothing.

We are lucky in that the owner who built our house gave us a lot of closets. But I didn't like the mix of rods and shelves in my bedroom walk in, so I had more shelves made to accommodate shoes, tee shirts, handbags and sweatshirts- all of which are now easily accessible.

I swtch my clothes twice a year because we can use the guest room closet for out-of-season clothes while still having room for a guest's. (Yes, the closets are that big!)

I think good lighting is preferable to a window in a closet. I've had windows and yes, they fade clothes. I changed the fixture in both our walk-ins and it makes a huge difference. I can tell black from navy, which is the key to good closet lighting.
