My husband and I have six cats and a dog and we made stockings for us and each of them. My original stocking is still on my mother’s mantle each year!

I think we’ve gone over the top decorating for a perfect Christmas look. I love decorating for Christmas but it’s the old decorations that mean the most, not the latest trend. I think this post reflects that. Our first stockings were a wedding gift from my aunt who had a neighbor knit them for us. My aunt passed away at the young age of 58 a year ago, you can bet how much they mean to me now. ❤️

I made stockings for my Children when they were young. Now they are in their 50’s. By the time they were teens the stockings were getting tattered and torn. I began “collecting” stockings. With ten grandchildren, we are now up to 20 stockings that hang proudly on the beam on our vaulted ceiling. Our oldest Granddaughter is 25 and has been the Stocking Master since she was 3. It is her domain and always has been! It’s great fun to have a glass of wine with her while we fill the stockings and she climbs up the ladder to hang them.
