This is all well and good, but I have wee ones 6, 4-10 they need a place to play and move...adults aren't the problem. Show us how to handle parties with them...

As far as where to put wee ones, I send parents of small children and pets to my 4 season sunroom. I let the senior generation stay in the formal living room and anybody else in the den. Dinner is buffet style served off kitchen table. I would like to recommend taking a look at Front gate website and catalog. They have some very good (and expensive) serving pieces. I try to buy on a 20 or 25 percent off sale. One thing that came in handy is a giant ice container with a seperate bottom. The bottom makes it possible to place the whole thing on any surface, no sweating with this thing. I put lots of ice and cold drinks in it and placed it on the coffee table in the den. I gave a cooler with ice and drinks to the kids in the sunroom. This seemed to work out great for me. Take a look at Front gate. They have lots of interesting serving pieces and lots of outdoor dishes and glasses in the summer months. You might find just what you need

I would hire at least one, perhaps two sitters to come to the party and help with the kids. Presumably, it's not just your own kids, but your friends' kids as well. Two sitters or nannies might be a good idea.
