Am I missing something? It looks like those huge floor-to ceiling windows that open don’t have any safety railing or anything else outside of them to catch the cute little toddler seen in some of the pics.

Otherwise yes, absolutely lovely. The fact that the original building and the addition don’t harmonize doesn’t really bother me. So much of the addition is glass that it just disappears from view and shows off the gorgeous interiors.

To me, it's like looking at a piece of art. It's a beautiful addition and I could see many hours went into it. I don't think all those photos do it justice but I can see the transition of the roof of the old into the beams then roof of the new. From the drive it reminds me of a modern version of a widow's peak. The proportions are right and even the large window sinks with the bottom openness below. White and black although opposites blend and attract. The internal wood features are soooo awesome, but then I am a fan of wood in it's glory as well as stone.

It's a "beach" house so it will weather nicely. The only part of the entire addition that I do not like, but it is of no fault of the owners nor architect is the view of the rooftops of the area. I think I would focus heavily on the seas.

My folks had an apt on the 11th floor of a building that overlooked the ocean. I loved bringing the chair over to face the balcony and watch the storms roll in. Mother nature is always interesting.
