The before photos are available in https://www.houzz.com/projects/2586852/st-anthony-falls-kitchen or you can just click on one of the photos in this ideabook article to get to the full set of 10 photos. The before photos aren't as helpful as I'd like; it would be great to have a before and after floor plan too. I think: the 'before' peninsula was between where the table and the kitchen are now in the new kitchen, coming out from the left. The 'before' table area was at the far end (where the sink wall is now), in a baywindow-shaped window wall that is no longer that shape -- maybe they pushed out the wall on the sides and reduced the windows to get more space. The 'before' stove, refrig, sink area was on the left wall. There are no pictures of the staircase wall.

Oh My - that is a fantastic transformation. That beam above the peninsula and between that and the sink really closed things off. It looks like the wall with the bay windows were basically ignored or the space took up some of the table seating. Much better in the redo. Plenty of counter space as well as space on the hutch. If the owner still needs further prepping space, there is always the dining table which can be put into temporary service. And without the peninsula to break up the pathway - it very usable. No island or peninsula needed in this kitchen. Well done, Kate Roos.

Victorian houses usually had back stairs for the "help" to use. I lived in a brownstone converted to an apt for each floor. My bedroom closet was the back stairs for the "help". It was turned into an interesting closet with steps as shelves and a hanging bar further up. The original door was still on it.

I, also converted my storage/living room closet into a panty as it wasn't really being used and I had another closet for hanging coats, etc on the other side.
