About Us

Beautiful surroundings make us happy . Born in Lebanon, Marie- Therese holds a Masters in Interior Architecture degree form Holy Spirit University of Kaslik. Traveled Europe, moved to Paris France where she worked for an architectural firm. Came to the United States to settle in Washington DC. Marie- Therese's clients are her source of inspiration and evolution. She loves design and feels energized in the presence of rich materials, beautiful textures, saturated colors, and unique objects. Her approach to design has been deeply influenced by her travels. She is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers and has received numerous accolades from Ethan Allen for her design contributions, including the prestigious National Circle of Excellence Award. Mimi is fluent in English, Arabic and French.

Mimi is a very talented designer who has helped make our house a warm and inviting home. She has a keen eye for design and space, and she considers our style and budget when creating a design for a room. Over several years, she has turned our otherwise simple rooms into beautiful yet functional living spaces that we continue to enjoy, including our dining room, family room, office, and master bedroom. Mimi’s designs include paint color, furniture, drapes, accessories, and advice and guidance on how to arrange furnishings to create a room that is pleasing to the eye and comfortable to live in. Mimi is fun to work with too. She is dependable, energetic, and enthusiastic about her profession. We are looking forward working with her again!

Mimi solved a bedroom problem for us, showing us how our room would accomodate a king size bed. As a result, we redecorated the entire room and Mimi's expert eye for color and design gave us a beautiful new look that we enjoy more as time goes by. Mimi also helped us update a traditional living room with more casual, comfortable upholstered furniture, tables, lamps and artwork. It is an inviting feeling, softer colors and we find we use it more often. Mimi is very personal and has an ability to focus on individual tastes at the same time introducing her knowledge of style and creativity. She is a pleasure to do business together.

Mimi has helped me design and furnish two homes and an efficiency apartment for my mother in a retirement facility. Her eye and attention to detail is terrific. She works up plans, sets a presentation complete with fabric samples, drawings and furniture. She listens to your desires and puts them into her plans. She is simply AMAZING! She looks at the entire picture from wall color and window treatments to furniture, light fixtures and even knick knacks. On top of that she has a terrific personality and is very easy to work with 5 stars is not enough. Excellent job is an understatement!

I have worked with Mimi Shipe for about 18 years! Obviously, I would recommend her to anyone looking for a great designer! We have at this point, worked on every room in my house and I love each one! We have developed such a relationship over the years, that I can simply email her with a picture and she knows exactly what I need. I'm so glad that she has worked with EA all these years as I couldn't imagine working with anyone else!

She has an excellent sense of style, but is also willing to listen and suggest alternatives if something doesn't quite suit our own style. Mimi is my go to lady! I started with 2 chairs for my living room, which led to new drapes and sheers for living room and dining room. That was followed by a new sofa for the living room. Mimi has completely transformed these 2 rooms and I love the new look! I am sure I will be going back to Ethan Allen because Mimi makes furniture shopping exciting and easy.
