Yes, I was responding to @diyher'question w high was posted just above my comment. It covered two topics - door shelves for CABINETS (ie pantry) to hold the weight of cans; and the second - refrigerator filtration system and charcoal instead of baking soda. And BTW, charcoal does a much better job than an open box of baking soda.

As to canned food on a fridge door - well, lots of folks put beer, soda cans and milk (shudder) on the refrigerator door. Hinges of a refrigerator door can take more weight than a pantry door. Just depends on how you want to roll.......:)

we put a gallon of mil on a shelf on our fridge door, but its a french door and the shelves are very sturdy and made for a gallon of milk. We didn't do that with our previous standard fridge door from 1990-2004

I have old wire framed shelves from when we had a closet door in our kitchen. Small things like canning labels, rip open packets and other small type things would fall out because the ends of the shelves were open wire. When I designed our pantry cabinet, I asked for 3 hinges on each door so it could hold the weight of things like homemade jam jars and other bottles of similar size.
