We could not have stated better the first piece of advice. FIND YOUR STYLE. Doesn't matter what anyone recommends, at the end of the day you have to feel happy in your own environment. Either nautical, boho, Mid century, or any other you prefer, find your own and be comfortable with it. The rest comes with experience.

It's a Beautiful World!

One of the most helpful articles I have seen, we can all use at least one piece of advice from it and, I suspect, many can use a lot more than just one ;-)

As an artist, I totally agree on how to choose artwork for your home. Always remember that you will have it on your wall for a long time and it should be something you really enjoy seeing any time you happen to look at it.

Another great idea mentioned in comments here is to buy from artists directly. Many artists, including myself, offer our original works and art prints right here, on Houzz. It may not be practical to see the artist personally but you should know that his or her personality is always reflected in the artwork. If a piece of art s/he created connects with you, the artist's goal has been achieved, art brings both parties a lot of joy and satisfaction.

We find there are definite advantages to buying here. For example, using idea books helps a buyer, when looking for art from different artists. Another useful tool is hanging the art piece in your room virtually, to see if you like it there. So very convenient, saves time for buyers and also for artists, leaving us more time to create new work ;-))... Raisa
