I'm considering the backsplash options for kitchen concrete countertops I made last summer, and found this article useful.

My counters are neutral gray (white concrete with black pigment added) and the kitchen walls are white. I like the visual simplicity of no-backsplash, but I might install white glass tiles. Carrera marble's cool gray veins also look pretty decent as a backsplash, but to minimize visual competition with the countertop I'd consider choosing marble with less-distinct veining.

I have a super ugly (IMHO) laminate countertop that sort of resembles concrete. I hate it but the house isn't really worth upgrading to anything too expensive. I think that it's just so much GRAY (counter, wall color, tile floors)! Trying to think of a cool back splash idea. I feel like subway tile is sooooo overly used. I would like to find a tile that I could do a cool herringbone pattern but I'm hesitant as I've never tiled anything before. I also need to paint the walls but want to find a tile I like first....decisions, decisions!
