12 Trends Spotted at the 2026 Milan Furniture Fair
Comfortable modular sofas, touchable textures, and shades of green and blue stood out at the recent Salone del Mobile
Comfort and well-being were the keywords of the 2026 Milan Furniture Fair, or Salone del Mobile, held April 21-26. More than 1,900 exhibitors — over a third from outside Italy — presented their vision of contemporary living at the trade show. Furniture, accessories, workspaces and cross-functional solutions inhabited a design landscape where industrial quality, material research, flexibility of use and sustainability are redefining the grammar of space.
Among the trends seen at the show were residential rooms no longer conceived as independent zones but as part of a cohesive, holistic vision — with materials, shapes and colors echoing from one room to the next. Furniture was designed to work equally well indoors and outdoors. Bar stools were enriched with armrests and upholstered backs, ensuring comfort. Green dominated in its many shades, shifting toward blues. Pastel tones were paired with bolder splashes of color to add character. Earth tones such as beige, terra cotta, brown and plum were back. Personalization was taken to the extreme — both in the choice of shapes and materials, and in the free-form composition of sofas. Coffee and side tables came in threes, with varying heights and sizes for different uses.
