I generally clean once a week, dragging out the vacuum, mopping the floors, etc. If company is coming on short notice, i concentrate my efforts on a spotless kitchen sink and powder room. Most of the time my place can best be described as "lived in". It's a good idea to have small projects that are easy to do and can be started and finished quickly.

I agree with Robin741. I can't stand dishes in the sink or the bed unmade. It takes only a few minutes to take care of those. My house is lived in but "clutter" makes me a total NUTSO case. I just pick stuff up and put it away where it belongs when I am done with it.. My "husband in training" is doing a great job of learning also! Kudo's to him... Love ya honey..

A&R bought a ranch
Never thought a 5 minute pickup would be so popular, I never mentioned that I normally complete the pickup during commercials or while preheating the oven. My kitchen go for quick cleaning are the Lysol wipes. Set the oven and let it preheat, grab a wipe and hit the fridge, mircowave, door handles and lastly the countertops. Takes no time at all and makes me look like I'm not a terribly messy chef even though I am the master of making a mess.
