Thank you for featuring our flagstone "lilypads" (#2) in your seventeen great pathway ideas! Our concept was exactly as you stated - sometimes the suggestion of a pathway is sufficient to draw the eye and invite exploration deeper into the yard. We had about a half dozen large stones left over after demolishing the previous landscape for this area. They weren't enough to build a formal pathway or even stepping stones, but we wanted to recycle them into the new landscape and the lilypad concept was our solution. The pads offer a place for the visitor to pause and admire the landscape as well as defining the route.
