Our house has 3 levels with our 2 children's rooms being on the third level. We got builders in to knock out a section of the wall and put beds into the wall cavity to create lofts with shelving in there as bed heads. This has freed up so much floorspace in their small rooms which now can fit desks and other furniture on the floor.

I really appreciated this article, thanks Houzz. I often wonder why the
bed in my motor home could not be found somewhere and put to use in my
small house. The bed in the motor home is a real bed, always in down
position but also can be lifted up to reveal full size storage
compartment at least 12" deep. I really use that space for many kinds
of items. Given the wave of downsizing happening today, I believe a bed
like this would fill needs of lots of home owners.

Paint the top 4” of the wall and 4” into the ceiling with a darker paint that compliments the walls. Instant taller ceilings.
