@pfmaher, the ones I recall were collapsable when stored and expandable when pulled out. If I were to design one, the drawer itself would be bottomless so when expanded the step stool/ladder would rest on the ground for stability. People are a clever lot sometimes.

I saw one picture. though, that all it was needed for was to help the kids reach the sink. 5" was probably enough.

#28 We have our streets of 'Tuscan' Italian stucco/dark wood homes from the construction boom of 2000-2008, then the smaller and brighter Craftsman homes that followed. Now white 'Modern Farmhouses" is hot for the 2015+ years . They look like subdivisions of hottest trends gone wrong - and very dated. Farmhouses look best when they are in farm country, or on larger plots of land. They look very out of place in suburban neighborhoods.

Trust me - we have 8 of them on one street adjoining our suburban neighborhood; we dubbed it 'white house row'. Beautiful homes in the wrong location.

Looking forward to all of this, except for those odd shaped kitchen islands....got rid of ours....biggest positive impact on our last house’s kitchen remodel. They are just odd to work at, to entertain at, or to use efficiently. They are meant to add pop, but are simply awkward.
Love all the return to color and wood.
