4 Vacation-Inspired Designs Brought to Life in 3D
Explore these virtual rooms that capture the spirit of Bali, Italy, Nantucket and Florida
As the days get warmer, many of us dream of heading off to visit distant shores. Whether your ideal getaway is a tropical island, a culinary hot spot or a breezy coastal town, the good news is it’s possible to bring some of that vacation magic into your own home — no boarding pass required.
Houzz has partnered with four interior design firms to create vacation-worthy spaces that channel the spirit of popular travel locales — Bali, Italy, Nantucket and Florida. And because the designers used the 3D Floor Planner — a tool available to Houzz Pro subscribers — you can “walk” through the rooms in an immersive experience. Check out the spaces below, then click the floor plan links to explore these dream destinations in 2D, 3D Dollhouse and life-size Walkthrough views.

The 3D Floor Planner, used to create this design, allows homeowners to get a realistic idea of how a design would work in their home. “Houzz Pro allowed me to quickly build a structural space with elaborate architectural features that stayed true to my vision,” Mongeon says. She then introduced fabrics and furnishings, including leafy wallpaper and pebble-like coffee tables, with the Houzz Pro Clipper tool.

A Taste of Italy
Communal eating is woven into the Italian experience, and time spent in Italy is inextricably linked with good food and conversation. In her colorful contemporary-meets-palazzo design, Caroline Couzens of Caroline Couzens Design shows how to give a kitchen a touch of that vibrancy — modern functionality overlaid with Italian splendor to make eating together a rich experience.
“I wanted to blend a sense of the old-world grandeur of a palazzo with contemporary livability,” Couzens says. Colorful textured tile in mixed greens forms the backdrop, while a gold-and-white geometric pattern covers a half wall, adding decoration while hiding the workings of the kitchen. A red range and hood stand out boldly, and a butler’s pantry takes care of additional storage — including, crucially, a large wine fridge. (Click the link below to look inside the pantry.)

Natural materials are key to a traditional Italian kitchen, and Couzens has included an ornate buffet with a marble top, tiered ceramic chandeliers and a rustic wood table. And for anyone who’s eaten too much? Relaxing lounge chairs await by the pool through the arched doors.
Couzens and the other designers created their floor plans from scratch, but if you’re renovating an existing space, your designer or contractor can use the Houzz Pro app on their phone or tablet to scan the room and build a virtual model. Pros can then adjust floor plans, create variations, share ideas and select products within the software. The latest AI-powered updates even allow pros to turn product photos into 3D models and use them in 3D floor plans, so you can get a real sense of how your room will look.

Coastal Nantucket Sophistication
Picture the big skies, bleached colors and laid-back luxury of Nantucket, off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. That’s the mood Megan Vogeler-Lappan of Flourish Interiors by Vanessa C. Smith has captured in this bedroom suite, bringing in that special mix of relaxed and sophisticated the island does so well.
Soft blues and crisp whites are layered with natural materials and subtle stripes to evoke a timeless East Coast sensibility. “We wanted every stripe and natural fiber to feel intentional,” Vogeler-Lappan says. The 3D tool was essential for refining the suite’s layout. “We love that we can share 3D Floor Plans through the Client Dashboard so our clients have everything in one place to visualize their future space, review detailed product information and submit approvals,” Vogeler-Lappan says.

Wallpaper in pale blues and whites nods to swimming pool mosaics to keep the look airy. The simple palette is calming, with repetition for a cohesive feel. The rattan centerpiece bed is echoed in the woven wall sconces, the area rug coordinates with the striped seats, and the sky blue ottoman is partnered with a bolster pillow.

Indoor-Outdoor Florida Living
Life on Marco Island in Florida is all about airy interiors and waterside relaxation thanks to its canals and coastline giving almost every household a view of shimmering water. Kristin Parr of Anna Gray Designs took inspiration from the spirit of that indoor-outdoor lifestyle to create a living room, kitchen and dining area seamlessly linked to the centerpiece backyard pool.
“This design is about the continuous experience of coastal living,” Parr says. “Houzz Pro allowed me to build and communicate this vision with incredible precision. I could instantly turn any real-world product or material into a 3D model, ensuring every selection felt cohesive.”

Look around in 3D view and you’ll get a sense of how refreshing the indoor-outdoor floor plan feels. Clean-lined furnishings in pale shades — white, cream, soft grays and sandy beiges — are paired with accessories in rich brown and green. Natural materials are key to this luxurious coastal style, and you’ll see plenty of wood, rattan and marble, as well as flowers and foliage inside and out.
And for those who prefer to cook outside? If they step into the yard they’ll find a full kitchen and two dining areas. Then they can dodge the dishwashing by heading for the outdoor sofas to watch the sun going down over the water.

Emerald greens, rich browns and flashes of glittering turquoise: The saturation filter is permanently turned up to maximum in Bali. That’s the sensory mood in this bungalow by Camille Mongeon of Bleu Canard Design, where you can almost hear the tropical birdsong.
Containers filled with lush foliage divide the space into kitchen, dining area and sunken living room while keeping the open feel. Dark wood floors and layered textures create a sense of luxury. A tranquil pool is key to the serene space, with a relaxing seating area and sun loungers under a pergola at the back. The strong palette reflects the Bali landscape, with greens and browns peppered with turquoise features, including the fireplace and plant pots.
