7 Showstopping Lighting Trends for 2026
Oversize silhouettes, aquatic motifs and decorative shades defined the lighting introductions at High Point Market
At the spring 2026 High Point Market in North Carolina, new lighting products embraced oversize scale, layered materials, decorative shades and organic forms — with fixtures functioning as statement pieces as much as sources of illumination. Here are seven standout lighting trends from the April 25-29 trade show, the world’s largest home furnishings event.
Corbett Lighting’s Enko sconce, designed by Noz Nozawa, pairs a rainbow-shaped form with a fluted brass finish. Integrated lighting casts a moody glow within the scooped recess of the fixture and onto the nearby wall.

2. Sea Inspiration
Aquatic musings were not on the prediction list for this season’s market, but sea-inspired lighting appeared repeatedly across showrooms and in a variety of forms. In recent years, natural references in design have tended toward the broad and organic; this season, they became more literal. Shell forms, fish scale patterns, rippled glass and wave-inspired silhouettes appeared in both sculptural and traditional fixtures, ranging from abstract interpretations to overt nautical references.
A prime example is Made Goods’ resin Thorne lamp, centered around a shell motif integrated directly into the base. The monochromatic treatment keeps the overall effect more refined than resort-themed.

While not overtly coastal, Wildwood’s Brookfield pendant incorporates subtle waves of gold leaf over an aluminum frame, echoing the undulating and draped forms seen throughout many introductions this season.

3. Statement Floor Lamps
Floor lamps took on a more sculptural presence this season, with oversize proportions and substantial bases appearing throughout showrooms. Totem-like forms, stacked geometric shapes and wide, simple cylindrical silhouettes overshadowed thinner, more delicate designs. These pieces are clearly intended to make a dramatic statement in a room.
Among the floor lamps, materials ranged from metal and wood to stone and plaster. Many paired solid, architectural bases with oversize shades in streamlined modern shapes. The overall effect felt less decorative and more structural, as evidenced by Amber Lewis’ Daxton floor lamp for Four Hands. Pairing a tubular silhouette with a substantial burl wood base in poplar veneer, it stands nearly 70 inches tall and 12 inches in diameter. The oversize scale allows for emphasis on the wood’s natural grain and tonal variation.

Another example, John-Richard’s Lithos floor lamp, features a bold, angular body cut from dramatically veined Calacatta Black marble and anchored by an antique brass base. Measuring 64 inches high and 16 inches in diameter, the design is topped with a towering white linen shade.

4. Shade Personalization
Decorative lampshades continued to gain momentum this season. While scalloped, rippled and wavy silhouettes have been trending, this market saw increased emphasis on color, pattern and, excitingly, customization.
Many manufacturers moved beyond standard neutral shades this season. Regina Andrew introduced an expansive assortment in varied shapes, sizes and colors, designed to mix and match across multiple lighting collections. Shown here is a sampling of the brand’s new sconce shade offerings.
Customization also emerged as a key focus. Visual Comfort continued to expand its popular Schumacher collaboration, incorporating the storied textile house’s fabrics into shades and lighting designs across a wide range of silhouettes. Robert Abbey announced that it now accepts COM (Customer’s Own Material) commissions for lampshades, still a relatively rare service within the lighting category.

Pattern and color took center stage in designer collaborations as well. Part of Corey Damen Jenkins’ debut lighting collection for Eichholtz, the Dionne table lamp boasts a vibrant peacock blue shade lined in gold.

5. Delicate Details
While still emerging, partial buyer assembly appeared in several higher-end lighting introductions this season. Unlike the flat-pack construction long associated with more accessible furnishings, these designs require assembly to accommodate increasingly intricate forms and delicate materials.
Varaluz’s Zanara pendant, for example, requires individually attaching 3D-printed ceramic leaves, detailed enough to require shipping in separate components.

Visual Comfort’s Cammela fixture similarly features layered sculptural silk petals gathered into a rounded floral form, with the delicate pieces requiring partial onsite assembly.
Together, the introductions suggest that more advanced fabrication techniques, and the logistics required to support them, may become increasingly common in decorative lighting.

6. Wrapped Botanicals
As mentioned earlier, natural materials and organic references continue to influence design, but at this season’s show, botanical motifs took on a more immersive, sculptural quality. Leaf and vine forms wrapped around pendants, chandeliers, sconces and lamps, appearing to grow along and intertwine with the fixtures themselves.
For his latest collection with Arteriors, Barry Dixon leaned heavily into organic influences. His Will O’ the Wisp pendant centers on a glowing glass globe encased in bronze botanical vines that wind downward.

Also from Corbett Lighting, the Innsbruck chandelier takes the shape of winding branches reaching outward. Textured metalwork gives the arms a bark-like quality.

7. Beaded Beauties
Jewelry-like detailing remains ubiquitous in lighting design in the form of crystal droplets, gold hoops and swooping chains, to name a few. Beadwork, however, appeared with far greater frequency this season than in recent years. Used as subtle embellishment or to construct entire fixtures, the decorative accents added texture, movement and a handcrafted quality to many introductions. The looks ranged from elegant and polished to bohemian and rustic.
Jamie Young’s Corset sconce, for example, cinches at the center with a band of pearlescent glass beads, adding a polished contrast to the bleached jute wrapping that cloaks the exterior. The smooth, glossy beads offset the rough texture of the natural material, creating a subtle design tension.

A wonderfully shaggy, beachy expression, Gabby’s Arlo chandelier is defined by a wrapped metal frame with cascading strands of braided rattan, coco wood and small beads.

This spring, many of the sconce introductions prioritized ambient lighting over task-oriented illumination. Designed for areas of relaxation and recreation — living rooms, bedrooms and dining spaces — the fixtures cast soft, diffuse light intended to create atmosphere rather than functional brightness.
Several showrooms also emphasized the effect the fixtures emitted on surrounding walls — an approach some referred to as “shadow play.” Quorum’s Ondine sconce, for example, features rotating lotus-inspired backplates that alter the shape and pattern of the backlit glow.
