2. Cozy With Texture
This stunning bedroom from interior design firm LKID features a fantastic assortment of textures. Note the smooth and matte walls, the rough and chunky wood ceiling, the soft and snuggly textiles — it’s essential to use a variety of textures and sheens in a room, especially if you go with a monochromatic color scheme.
And, as with the previous example, if you have a pleasant view out your bedroom window, you don’t need to complicate the design, which would only distract from the beauty.

3. Clean and Simple
Speaking of no distractions, this pretty bedroom in Cambridgeshire, England, by design firm Parsons Gray is as serene a space as you can get. The uncluttered room with its minimal color palette has a softness to it that I would imagine is very conducive to sleep and rest.
During high-anxiety moments in our lives, it’s crucial to have a comforting place to retreat to. For many of us, a clean and clutter-free space with minimal distractions helps us feel calm and collected, so trying to re-create the feel of this room would help achieve that effect.

4. Natural Materials
There’s something incredibly soothing about being out in nature, or at least having a fantastic view of it. Channel that vibe by incorporating natural materials and elements in your bedroom. Stone, hardwood and natural fibers combined with muted earth tones bring a comforting, organic feel to this Big Sky, Montana, bedroom from The PRG Group.

5. Cohesive Color
You don’t necessarily have to limit the palette to shades of white, light gray or beige to create a soothing sleep space. I think the trick to introducing a more assertive color in a toned-down way is to keep the palette relatively simple, with a few splashes of one nonneutral. Now, this soft raspberry hue is hardly eye-popping, but it does offer a nice break of color in an otherwise light and neutral space.
The mostly warm hues all work well together to give this bedroom by Seattle Interiors a graceful, stylish vibe that remains cozy and inviting.

6. Old-World Charm
This delightful bedroom in Nice, France, might be more inspirational than aspirational for most of us, but it certainly has plenty of design elements that can be applied to a bedroom.
If you have any interesting architectural details in your room, you should allow them to take center stage by keeping the decorative details to a minimum. You can use color to play up these features by varying the hue so they stand apart from what surrounds them. The opposite is true as well. You can camouflage anything you don’t want to stand out by painting it to blend into its background.
And take a cue from the creator of this space, Rachel Desbordes, by going with high-quality linens that add a soft, luxe texture to the mix.

7. Pleasing View
If you have a nice view out your bedroom window, take advantage with nonfussy window treatments. If your bedroom isn’t blessed with a lovely vista like the one seen in this space by Kansas-based Extraordinary Homes, you can fake it with artwork or wall coverings that depict natural scenes.
Think about your favorite type of view in terms of the natural elements of earth, water and air, and allow that to inspire and guide the design and decoration of your bedroom.

This cheery bedroom from home-staging professional Maria Elisa Sveltici illustrates an ideal balance of hard and soft materials as well as warm and cool tones.
The hardwood-clad ceiling and trim join forces with the tomato-red hues to inject warmth, in contrast to the cool and soothing flooring and wall color. The variety of textiles throughout the bedroom softens the impact of the hard surfaces, and the lighting provides a soft glow — especially important in the evening when a wood-clad ceiling becomes a rather dark surface.
