Good article. But my stumbling block is how to choose paint colours (in our case white for the trim & ceiling and light grey for the living room and common areas) when we aren't living in the home yet. There are no neighbouring houses and trees etc yet to block any in coming light. How do you choose colours in advance of a new build when you can't do a test spot?

Behr's Stone Isle or Icy Avalanche for Gray and Swiss Coffee for white are some of my faves. You can always go darker on some walls of you chose, after you move in. Or just go with a good white for the base color throughout and add colors after you move in...

I have considered going very very light and then add depth after we move in. I guess I was hoping there was some secret I hadn't thought of yet :-)
