I love fun lighting in a bedroom but my husband and sons all insist on ceiling fans. Boo! :(

And here I love ceiling fans - it circulates the cooler air (which sinks) throughout the area and the heat that rises during the winter. My electric bills are low (less than $100 for 1900 plus sq ft house) as for most (about 9-10 months) of the year, I rarely turn on my air or heat. People comment how "cool" my house is despite the 90 plus degree heat outside - and all my windows are opened with a nice gentle breeze. When I do run the air or heat, it's generally just in the over night hours for air or if we get an over night freeze for heat. I really use my fans a lot. It makes a difference. :)

Also nice tips, although I prefer beautiful wood trim including crown moldings to be stained. I would say, if one doesn't have a ceiling height of at least 9' or greater, then, yes, baseboards and crown moldings should be the colour of the wall to give the impression of height. And if the ceiling is under 9', then all moldings in that room should be the same stain or painted same color as wall. Most decorators tend to stain or paint moldings the same or lighter than the walls. Since my ceilings are very high - like roof line height, then all the moldings are stained darker than the walls which gives a very nice definition without it being too traditional.
