The Consumer reports magazine is only good for about 6 months, maybe! I have found in the past that any appliance they give a good review to is not EVER available the next year. The similar model always has a new number. In fact the model of induction stove we chose went up in price by $250, I'm sure because of the good review. So what was a best buy at $1500 became a $1750 purchase. That said, I'm pleased with the performance of our new induction stove/convection oven. It does have a slight hum in operation, no bother. I also bought some porcelain clad iron pots for cooking on the top. Yes the stove hearts up superfast, but the cookware says do not heat up fast (apparently the porcelain may not be able to adjust as fast as the iron and crack) and they are very heavy. Which is good for a workout (no gym here!) I do use my iron skillets on it with no problem. My biggest problem is finding a good teapot to use on it. Since we took out the microwave (I like vitamins in my food), I have to use a pot to heat my tea water. I'm looking at Japanese iron teapots.

Love my induction cooktop. I bought new stainless steel pans at Costco for under 200.00 dollars plus they go in the dishwasher. You do not need expensive pans to cook on an induction cooktop.

Have been using induction cooking for many years. I always carry a small magnet in my bag when shopping for pans/pots. If it sticks to the bottom of the pot, then it will work on an induction cooktop. Never fails!
