cwoodstock, I have also in the past covered my box springs with a fitted sheet, and it did make the box spring look more tailored.

While I was staying with my infirm mother, I preferred a quilt rather than a traditional bedspread. I bought a bed skirt to cover the metal bed frame. However, the bed skirt constantly moved when changing the sheets; it was a fight to keep it straight. I had to use the screw-in upholstery pins to solve the problem.

My queen bed at home has a heavy memory foam topper that makes removing the mattress to clean a bed skirt a Herculean task. I happened across a product in a mail order catalog that solved my problem. It's a wrap-around bed ruffle, shown HERE . It doesn't have a custom fit as it is sized for Twin-Full or Queen-King, meaning it fits the larger size better. I had to pull the extra fabric around to the head of the bed, and I also used screw-in upholstery pins to hold it in place. However, it was $20 plus the cost of the pins. It is easy to remove, clean and replace, so it serves my need.

I went right to Amazon and found a nice selection of wrap-around bed skirts. Thanks Mindshift
