I hate bathtubs. We ripped the only one out of our house and replaced it with a curbless shower. It's easier to clean, and personally, I don't care about resale value. I want my house to be designed for me, not some future buyer.

We didn't install curbless showers because I'm quite paranoid about the danger of flooding the floors. We have a 3-4 inch border in which the glass door slides as well. Since ours is a 2-storey house, it's unlikely that anybody using a wheelchair will be upstairs and thus need a curbless shower. We have a laundry room and powder room on the ground floor, where we could eventually add a curbless shower or a senior bathtub with a bit of remodeling. This would also involve turning the adjoining family room into a bedroom and perhaps moving the laundry to the basement. But more likely if we reach that stage in our lives where this becomes necessary, we'll move into a home (house or condo) that is all on one level.
