I love wood, but it makes things pretty dark. It's gorgeous! Good you have such a light shiny sofa. I would be adding color, like aquamarine shades in a throw, accent rug and wall hangings, with pops of orange and yellow. Maybe a mirror above the mantel, or some other shiny thing(s).

These are great ideas, thanks! There is a mostly red with highlights of gold glider in this room. I was hoping to change the wall color to something with a gray tone but I'm not sure yet. I really like the mirror idea. And I'm definitely going to change the window treatments to something lighter in one of the accents you mentioned. Thank you!!!

Red and gold are great, might be able to add a third shade. I would lean away from grey with all the brown wood, just my preference. I do see some of the examples above used gray for walls and it does look nice. Blue green, green to yellow green accents are good with red, to add contrasting pop of color. I am so hooked on blue green myself. Also shiny gold accents are a great light catcher.
