Great thoughts, I hope the architectural profession can continue to communicate that "site specific" is the primary ingredient for both sustainable and beautiful design. The idea that any floor plan can be put on any site without regard to the sun or the view is a fundamental problem in the housing industry. I can't tell you how many homes I've seen where a simple adjustment in the plan would have livened the interior spaces and reduced the power bill at the same time!

My husband and I are planning to build. Guess who will be along with us at site selection? Our architect. I found the perfect guy so now I will have the perfect house for the site. We've met him, seen his work, walked through his work, even spent the day in one of his houses. I'm not worried about the builder - the architect chooses the builder (someone he has worked with and trusts). Match made in heaven!

Great article and very true. The article & pictures displays true planning, design, and landscaping. The glass used for these structures were a pleasure to see and it must be quite a sight, viewing the surroundings from within these spaces.
