I’m not that fond of painted kitchen cabinets, because I prefer stained wood. However, one good thing the different colors top and bottom is this: when the bottom course of cabinets get beat up and chipped, you don’t have to worry about matching paint to the top cabinets precisely. You can just paint the bottom any color you want.


I think doing an island in a different color from the other cabinets looks more modern and new than the top/bottom two-tone look.
