I like placing the leaf vein down and rolling or pressing it into the clay to get real texture. Some very finely textured leaves may need some extra carving of the veins. Also put some newspaper in the bowl to prevent the clay from sticking to the bowl. These are easy enough for my youngest students and look elegant in porcelain and celadon glazes.
