Thanks for getting back to me. Re the KF, I understand the overplanting. Why not Indian Grass? I see almost nothing on its use. Switch grass gets pretty burly at its base and permanent (hard to dig up!) - though I get the 'see through' part. The grass is meant to weave through newly planted Calgary juniper and will be the only height in the garden.

Mimi, your area is much more generous in the precipitation department than mine, so I wouldn't hesitate to use Indian Grass. For the more see-through look, why not plant it further apart than it's maximum width of 3' to satisfy that effect? Without seeing your space, how about trying it at a 4' to 5' on-center spacing, as it weaves thru your low junipers as an open drift?

As to "nothing on it's use", this is an issue with many garden-worthy plants - sometimes bias from certain people, sometimes a lack of use. Sharing your success with it used in an effective manner will only help add to the knowledge base.

Good luck with Indian Grass!

Thank you. I'll send photos when it gets done - slowly, as it is a volunteers only project and the budget is thin. All the more interesting and exciting for it. MM
