Hi aeykelbo,

I think that is a really great point that you make. What thrives and is an acceptable gardening plant in one region can sometimes wreak havoc elsewhere. It's always smart to check which plants may be on an invasive watch list in your region or to really work with native nurseries or botanical gardens to understand what best suits where you live.

Love the grape. We just removed an old vine over our now demolished back deck. We are currently building a new deck with 12' overhang and need a replacement vine. This specimen looks like it would be perfect. Back of the house faces South. Can this variety be grown in a large container? We are converting most of our yard to drought tolerant natives and this beauty would be a great focal point. We live in Fair Oaks, close to Sacramento.
