So these could be used in the Caribbean area easily, a place like Aruba where there's not much rain and a steady temperature around 85 degrees all year round?

They do very well in the Caribbean.

Central Texas has the white cooperia lilies. They are also called rain lilies, and there are two species: C. pedunculata blooms spring into summer, and C.drummondii blooms late summer into autumn. Quite tolerant of drought, the U.S.D.A. lists them as native to Texas, Louisiana, and Florida. I'm sure they should do well in Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina as well. They do well in calcareous soils. Plant them in mixed borders or seldom mowed grassy areas. The picture below is a highway median that gets mowed only twice a year.
