I recently re-watched Home Alone, a movie that has become quite a Christmas classic. With a new perspective of family and the holidays, I couldn't help but notice how cleverly the set designers worked to pull the quintessential Christmas colors into the McCallister family house. I thought it might be fun to find ways to incorporate red and green into my own home, for the holidays and beyond.

The McCallister family had distinct walls decorated in green and red. This classic green and white damask wallpaper transcends the seasons, but it will certainly add to the Christmas feel, no matter what room you're in.
Hang this up and keep everything organized! I love its vintage style.
In every house I've owned, I have always had a red room. It's warm, it's lively, and it's inviting. I imagine the McCallister's would love this shade, Dinner Party, from Benjamin Moore.
Who wouldn't love to gather around the Christmas table a little longer in these kiwi leather chairs?
The bold red stripe on this Brasserie tableware set is perfect for casual holiday entertaining, but its cheer can extend beyond the Christmas season.
This is the perfect home for your books and knickknacks, and it comes in a happy color that screams "Ho! Ho! Ho!"
On the other hand, there is something serene about a green kitchen.
Even washing dishes won't feel like a chore with this red apron-front sink from Kohler.
For Christmas cookies and beyond, this Empire Red KitchenAid Professional 600 Series Stand Mixer has the horsepower to handle all your baking.
Le Creuset Stoneware is durable and versatile. This 12-piece bakeware set has everything you need to serve a hungry family during the holiday madness.
Fast forward a few years, and the Home Alone set designers would surely have incorporated this forest green iPhone cover!
Roman shades work so well in kitchen spaces. I love that this one in a French stripe has a vintage feel.
Even those with less-than-green thumbs (like me) will be able to keep this Christmas Cactus alive. When it produces red blooms in December, it is an instant holiday feast for the eyes.
I would love to start my day with warm oatmeal in these beautifully speckled bowls.
With a stainless steel top and added touches like a spice rack, this pop of red will be a welcome work surface in the kitchen.
You can never have enough cutting boards, and these green Gripper surfaces bring a whole lot of jolly to prepping holiday meals.
Bring a touch of retro chic to the kitchen with these industrial pendant lights in a bold red. Can't you see this hanging over the kitchen counter?
Wall art is a must. I adore these simple dots (don't they look like ornaments?) in this piece by Tom Judd.
