These are all lovely suggestions. I'd be interested in seeing ides for that awkward space on the 2nd floor of a house with a curved staircase--you know, the 1980s standard curved stair with oak railing found out in a lot of subdivisions of the time? There's a little almost triangular bit of land that hangs there. People put plants or decorative objects there, but I wonder if it can't be useful in some way.
